AC 07: CONFERENCE CHURCH ETHICS AND SEXUAL MISCONDUCT PREVENTION TRAINING

Every (pastor) active clergy person must attend an updated Conference Church Ethics and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training at least once every four years. It is strongly recommended that every church employee, laity in leadership roles, and retired clergy also attend a Conference Church Ethics and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training at least once every four years.

The Annual Clergy Report Form shall include the following question: "When and where did you last attend a Conference Church Ethics and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training?" The office of superintendent shall review each report to insure compliance.

When (a pastor) an active clergy person fails to meet this requirement, the matter will be referred to the Bishop pursuant to THE 1996 BOOK OF DISCIPLINE, Par. 2624d (Failure to perform the work of ministry), Par. 331 (Duties of a Pastor), and Par. 358 (Complaint Procedure).

Financing for the Conference Church Ethics and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training allotted for a four year commitment of $5,000 per annum, funded from Ministerial Education Fund or other resources as determined by Conference Council of Finance and Administration.

Effective date: July 1, 1999.
Financial impact: $5000 over 1`2 months through the Ministerial Education Fund.
