Bishop Elaine Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint Major Rettig as pastor of Center United Methodist Church, Center, CO, and Saguache United Methodist Church, Saguache, CO, effective July 1, 2012. Major will be appointed as a Provisional Elder pending the Clergy Session action at the 2013 Annual Conference. Rev. Jamie Martens, pastor of Center United Methodist Church and Saguache United Methodist Church, has requested a Voluntary Leave of Absence, effective July 1, 2013.

Bishop Elaine Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint Rev. Sarah Rettig, member of the West Virginia Conference, as pastor of Monte Vista United Methodist Church, Monte Vista, CO and Bowen Community United Methodist Church, Bowen, CO, (3/4 time) effective July 1, 2012. Rev. Sandra Spahr, pastor of Monte Vista United Methodist Church and Bowen Community United Methodist Church, will return to retirement.

District Superintendent Sione Tukutau has announced his intention to assign Rev. Charles Thompson, a retired elder in the Arkansas Conference, currently associate pastor of Crossroads United Methodist Church, Grand Junction, Colorado, as pastor of Paonia United Methodist Church, Paonia, Colorado, effective July 1, 2013. Rev. Russell Fletcher, pastor of Paonia United Methodist Church, has been assigned as pastor of Evergreen United Methodist Church, Evergreen, Colorado, effective July 1, 2013.

Michele Odell, currently associate pastor of Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, Golden, Colorado, as senior pastor of Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, effective July 1, 2013. The appointment of Rev. Carolyn Waters, Senior Pastor of Applewood Valley UMC is yet to be determined.

Kerry Allison McCormick, currently associate pastor of Sunrise United Methodist Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado, as pastor of Redlands United Methodist Church, Grand Junction, Colorado, effective July 1, 2013. Keith Hudiburgh as intentional interim pastor for Wheatland and Chugwater United Methodist Churches, Wyoming, effective July 1, 2013. Rev. Skip Perry, pastor of Wheatland and Chugwater United Methodist Churches, has requested retirement effective June 30, 2013.

Patti Agnew, currently Associate Pastor of Smoky Hill United Methodist Church, Aurora, Colorado, as pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado, effective July 1, 2013. Rev. Larry Paulson, pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church has requested retirement effective June 30, 2013.

Gary Grundman, current interim pastor of Tongan United Methodist Church, will complete his service June 30, 2013.

District Superintendent Skip Strickland has announced his intention to assign Sharon Strauss to supply LeRoy United Methodist Church, LeRoy, Colorado, effective May 1, 2013. Sharon presently serves as a supply pastor in the NE Colorado Cooperative Parish and will continue to serve as supply pastor at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Jodie Harless was appointed as pastor of Faith United Methodist Church, Sterling, Colorado and Fleming United Methodist Church, Fleming, Colorado effective April 15, 2013.

District Superintendent Marv Vose has announced his intention to assign Rev. Roger Barker, a retired elder from the Central Texas Conference, to South Fork Community United Methodist Worshipping Community, South Fork, Colorado (less than ¼ time) effective May 1, 2013 and continuing until September 1, 2013, which will conclude the new seasonal ministry of this worshipping community. Rev. Sandy Spahr ended her assignment to South Fork on April 1, 2013, while continuing to serve Monte Vista United Methodist Church and Bowen Community United Methodist Church.

District Superintendent Melanie Rosa has announced her intention to assign Rev. Russell Fletcher, a retired elder from the Mississippi Conference, currently pastor of Paonia United Methodist Church, as pastor of Evergreen United Methodist Church, Evergreen, Colorado, effective July 1, 2013. Rev. Todd Everhart, pastor of Evergreen United Methodist Church, has been appointed as pastor of First United Methodist Church, Windsor, Colorado, effective July 1, 2013.

Local Pastor Robert Simpson, will complete his appointment to Windsor United Methodist Church, June 30, 2013.

Bishop Elaine Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint Rev. Linda S. Hoover, currently on leave of absence, as pastor of Howard United Methodist Church, Last Chance/Woodrow, CO, effective July 1, 2013. Rev. Thomas G. Thompson, interim pastor at Howard UMC, will complete his service, June 30, 2013.

Bishop Elaine Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint Pastor Lesley Matschke, currently pastor of Hillsdale UMC, Hillsdale, WY, to Pine Bluffs UMC, Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, in addition to continuing to serve at Hillsdale UMC, effective August 1, 2013. Rev. Dale Lovett, pastor of Pine Bluffs UMC, Pine Bluffs, WY, has requested retirement effective June 30, 2013.

Bishop Elaine Stanovsky, Rocky Mountain Conference of The United Methodist Church, and Bishop Minerva Carcaño, California-Pacific Conference of The United Methodist Church, have announced their intention to appoint Rev. District Superintendent Steve Goodier has announced his intention to assign C. Glenn Duggin to supply Redemption Fellowship (1/2 time), effective September 15, 2012. The ministry is currently housed at Warren United Methodist Church.

District Superintendent Steve Goodier has announced his intention to assign Sara Ann Swenson to supply Warren United Methodist Church in Denver (1/2 time), effective September 15, 2012. Sara is a recent graduate of the Iliff School of Theology. It has previously been announced that current pastor Mariah Hayden will go on Family Leave as she and her family will be moving away.

On behalf of Bishop Elaine and the Cabinet, District Superintendent Deb Olenyik announces that retired Elder Lynn Evans serving Carpenter, Wyoming ended his pulpit supply appointment there on August 15 to return to full retirement.  Retired Local Pastor Gail Graves, who has been co-pastor at Carpenter with Rev. Evans, will continue on as the solo pulpit supply pastor.

On behalf of Bishop Elaine and the Cabinet, District Superintendent Deb Olenyik announces that halftime Local Pastor Mark Ramsperger will end his appointment at the Berta A. Penney Memorial United Methodist Church in Kemmerer, Wyoming on August 31.  Mark will be staying on in the Kemmerer community.

Bishop Elaine Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint Leslie Wood as pastor of Pikes Peak UMC, Colorado Springs, CO (1/2 time), effective July 1, 2012. Leslie will be appointed as a Local Pastor.

Rev. Joyce DeToni-Hill, currently pastor of Pikes Peak UMC, will be appointed as associate pastor of Central UMC, Colorado Springs, CO effective July 1, 2012.

Rev. Claude Dennis Shaw, currently serving as pastor of Stratmoor Hills United Methodist Church, has been appointed to Hilltop United Methodist Church, Sandy, Utah.

Bishop Elaine Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint Calob Rundell as pastor of Wiley United Methodist Church, Wiley, Colorado and McClave United Methodist Church, McClave, Colorado, effective July 1, 2012. Rev. Goodier has served as the Utah/Western Colorado District Superintendent since 2009, following a fruitful pastorate at Christ UMC, Salt Lake City. Steve also pursued a writing and publishing extension ministry. Steve and his wife, Bev, a diaconal minister, bring rich gifts to the ministry wherever they serve. They enjoy three adult sons in Hawaii and Boulder. Steve is appreciated as a wise team player and an astute thinker and communicator with a pastor's heart and a wry wit.

Rev. Tukutau comes to the cabinet from First United Methodist Church of Rock Springs, Wyoming, where he earned the Denman Award for Evangelism in 2009, after leading a fresh surge of church outreach and growth. Sione is an Iliff alumnus. He and his wife, Olympia, were born and raised in the Pacific island Kingdom of Tonga. They have two sons, Epeli, who is a freshman at the University of Wyoming, and Havea, who is in the eighth grade. Sione brings to the cabinet his infectious faith, collegial spirit and facility with bridging cultures in the family of God.

Bishop Stanovsky announced today that Rev. Walter “Skip” Strickland will join the appointive cabinet on July 1, 2012 as District Superintendent of the Peaks and Plains, serving also the churches in Northeast Colorado.  He will follow Rev. Dr. Eric Van Thomas Smith, who is completing his term as District Superintendent.  Skip is currently serving a Director of Mission and Ministry in the Rocky Mountain Conference, a position he has held for 5 years.

Bishop Stanovsky affirms that “Skip can see where the church needs to go, and knows how to lead it there.  He is on fire with faith, and eager to share with the churches.” 

Skip has served as an elder in the Rocky Mountain Conference for 30 years, after graduating from the University of Puget Sound and Iliff School of Theology, where he was honored as the Distinguished Alumni earlier this year.  He has served churches across the Conference, and is known for his dedication to youth ministry, starting new churches, and as a passionate player of bluegrass music.  Beyond the Rocky Mountain Conference, Skip has offered leadership to the whole church through the annual training of new District Superintendents and Directors of Connectional Ministries at Lake Junaluska, NC, the Western Jurisdiction Interethnic Coordinating Committee and the National Association of Directors of Connectional Ministries and Directors of Congregational Development.

Skip is married to Belinda Strickland, and together they have two young adult children, Ian and Lexi.

Rev. Dr. Youngsook Charlene Kang will become the new Director of Mission and Ministry of the Rocky Mountain Conference July 1, 2012, announced Bishop Stanovsky today.  Rev. Kang is currently the District Superintendent of the Metropolitan District, and dean of the appointive cabinet.  Youngsook follows current DMM, Rev. Skip Strickland, who is slated to step into the Peaks and Plains District Superintendent role July 1.

Bishop Stanovsky affirmed that “Youngsook brings to this role deep faith and competence in understanding the challenges of shifting worldviews and articulating a clear vision in developing spiritual leaders of the United Methodist Church for the 21st century.”   Her passion for leadership development to this role:  cultural competency, alternative conflict resolution, coaching, urban ministry. 

Dr. Kang was educated at Songang University and Korea University, followed by Iliff School of Theology (MDiv), the University of Denver (MSW) and Drew Theological School (DMin).  Her ministry appointments have included Wheat Ridge, First UMC of Golden, St. Paul’s UMC, Boulder, as well as Deputy General Secretary of the Board of Global Ministries for Mission Contexts and Relationships and Mission Education.

Youngsook has served on the Board of Trustees of Iliff School of Theology, and its Alumnae Board, the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, as president of the National Association of Korean-American Clergywomen, and as a delegate to General Conference in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. 

Youngsook is married to Rev. Jin Ho Kang, also an elder in the Rocky Mountain Conference.  Their children are Peter and Joann.

Judith Taylor, currently serving Trinity UMC has been appointed to the South Metro Cooperative Parish in Denver, Colorado effective July 1, 2010.

District Superintendent Steve Goodier intends to assign Sharon Strauss as supply pastor of Dolores UMC, in the San Juan Cooperative Parish, effective July 1, 2010. Rev. Pat Bruns, currently serving Brentwood UMC, as Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Boulder in Boulder, Colorado effective July 1, 2010.   Rev. Claire Childress and Rev. Keith Thompson who currently serve First Boulder have announced their plans to retire June 30, 2010.
Rev. Jessica Rooks as Pastor of Cameron United Methodist Church in Denver, Colorado effective July 1, 2010.   Rev. Ginny Bettendorf, Interim Pastor at Cameron, will serve there until the end of June.

Bishop Stanovsky announces her intention to appoint Rev. Olon Lindemood as Senior Pastor of Sunrise United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado effective July 1, 2010.  As previously announced Rev. Marv Vose, current pastor at Sunrise, will be appointed as District Superintendent of the Sunshine District.

Bishop Stanovsky announces her intention to appoint Rev. Bob Kaylor as Senior Pastor of Tri-lakes United Methodist Church, Monument, Colorado, effective July 1, 2010.

Rev. Bob Leeds, current pastor has announced his intention to retire July 1, 2010.

Bishop Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint David Barton to Haxtun UMC and the Northeast Colorado Cooperative Parish effective July 1, 2010.  David will be appointed as Local Pastor or Provisional Elder, pending Board of Ordained Ministry and Executive Session action.  It is the intention to designate Kristie Firme as the new lead pastor for the NE CO Cooperative Parish effective July 1, 2010.  Kristie serves in the cooperative parish at Ovid and Julesburg.  Current Haxtun pastor and cooperative parish lead pastor, Keith Hudiburgh, has announced his intention to retire on July 1, 2010.

District Superintendent Deb Olenyik has announced the assignment of Mark Collins as a cross denomination supply pastor at ¼ time to Green River UMC, Green River, WY effective March 1, 2010.  Mark is ordained, with his seminary work through Fuller Seminary, and has served churches in the Advent Christian, UCC and ELCA denominations.

Bishop Stanovsky has announced her intention to appoint The Reverend Handi Jo Dolloff-Holt Senior Pastor to Mountain View United Methodist Church in Woodland Park, Colorado, effective July 1. 2010.

Rev. Betty France, current pastor has announced her intention to retire June 30, 2010.

Bishop Stanovsky announces her intention to appoint Kathy Leathers one-half time as a Local Pastor to the congregations of Holly, Bristol, and Granada effective July 1, 2010.  Rev. Greg Borden will complete his interim ministry there on June 30.

District Superintendent Steve Goodier has assigned Reverend Darrell Mount to supply Hilltop United Methodist Church, (985 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah, phone:  801-571-5777) until March 31, 2010.  Darrell is currently a retired elder within the Rocky Mountain Conference.
As of January 1, 2010 Rev. Roger Barker, clergy member of the Central Texas Conference, has been assigned by District Superintendent Brenda Lear as pastor of the Community United Methodist Congregation of South Fork, a new church start in South Fork, Colorado.  The congregation began meeting in the fall of 2009.

Rev. Claire McNulty-Drewes, currently serving the Lyons UMC 1/2 time, to also serve the Bethel United Methodist Church 1/2 time, effective August 1, 2009.

Metro District Superintendent Youngsook C. Kang has announced the assignment of Christine Xavier as a supply pastor to Goode Centennial UMC effective July 1, 2009.   Christine has been serving Two Buttes and Walsh United Methodist Churches.
