The United Methodist Church’s top legislative body will meet at the Oregon Convention Center, the largest convention center in the Pacific Northwest, on May 10 to 20, 2016. General Conference is the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church which meets once every four years. The conference can revise church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs.


Volunteers needed for General Conference

The 2016 General Conference will be at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon, from May 10 to 20, 2016. A conference of this size requires a huge amount of support. Please consider volunteering and/or encouraging members of your own congregation to partake in this important event and show what it means to practice radical hospitality and extravagant generosity. The Pre General Conference News Briefing is a three-day event that aims to provide information for delegates, conference communicators and secular media on topics to be considered during General Conference, May 10-20, 2016. Subjects will include legislative items and issues, an overview of how General Conference works, opportunities for connecting with other delegates and communicators, and a tour of the convention center.
